Our lives aren’t entirely overrun by Kindergarten, or so I tell myself. We have been up to other things.
Our friends Gregg and Ralph visited this weekend. Tim’s birthday celebrations continued. Gregg baked an awesome cake.
Going to the fair has become a family tradition. James loves the grown up rides and will try anything once. James held on for dear life, but declared this ride to be awesome because it went up really high.
Eating fair food has become a tradition as well. The corn on the cobb was sweet and juicy. Gregg’s attempts to help with eating the corn were ignored.
Eating something deep-fried is also becoming a gut buster of a tradition for me, Tim and James shudder with horror every time we get near to the fried food stand. Last year, I tried deep-fried Dr. Pepper and thought it was terrible. This year, the deep-fried Twinkies were delicious, I was always partial to them anyway. Ralph deemed them rude, but ate the whole thing. I’m still paying for the Twinkie two days later.
There’s nothing quite like broiling in the heat, inhaling the rich aroma of cooking food, overlapped with the odor coming from the animal barns, then getting dizzy from the rides. Recovery is necessary, watching a Star Wars marathon will do the trick.
