When I was little, I got strep throat plenty of times, but I never had a rash with it. Strep with a rash means scarlet fever. As soon as the pediatrician said “James has Scarlet Fever”, I instantly thought, isn’t that something you got if you lived on little house on the prairie? I don’t live in a prairie; I don’t recall pulling on a pair of bloomers under my jeans this morning.
I know this is silly, but I had no idea that scarlet fever was a “thing” anymore. Thank goodness that someone figured out the bread mold was actually medicine. Scarlet fever really isn’t a “thing” anymore now that we have penicillin. James is feeling better.
